Day 1
We depart our pick-up points early morning and make our way to Winchester where the festive season is in swing. The day is yours to explore. Immerse yourself in a city full of history and heritage, with a world-famous cathedral and top-rated eateries and retail. Dubbed “England’s Christmas Capital” from the moment the lights switch on, Winchester is alive with a range of festive activities. This year is a little different but why not take advantage of the festive season by enjoying the Nutcracker Christmas Trail! Find the names of the 14 Nutcracker Kings and enter a draw to win a special prize! Following the trail across the city centre will enable you to see all the wonderful festive lights whilst Christmas Shopping and enjoying Winchester’s fantastic shops and eateries along the way.
Alternatively, you could follow in King Alfred’s footsteps on a self-guided tour of Winchester’s historic landmarks. The walk is divided into three loops so you can choose how much to do. Set out from the famous statue of King Alfred and explore the heart of the ancient capital, the upper city and Alfred’s final resting place in Hyde Abbey Gardens. A must-see attraction at the heart of historic Winchester has to be Winchester Cathedral. Discover 1000 years of history, magnificent architecture, priceless treasures and great works of art, including sculpture by Antony Gormley. Famous ‘residents’ include Saxon kings and the much-loved author Jane Austen. Don’t miss Kings and Scribes, three spectacular new exhibition galleries open from summer 2019 showcasing the magnificent 12th-century Winchester Bible and exploring Winchester’s role in the birth of the nation.
After a day of exploration, we head to the Norton Park Hotel, a splendid 4 Star hotel with character and charm set in 54 acres of countryside in time for dinner. Originally a manor house dating back to the 16 th century, the hotel has been skilfully restored to provide first class accommodation with every modern amenity required for a relaxing time.

Day 2
After breakfast, we take the short drive to Southampton, a bustling port city on England’s south coast, drenched in history, with roots dating back to the Stone Age. Spend the morning exploring the many museums and galleries, The Sea City Museum has an interactive model of the Titanic, which departed from Southampton in 1912 before its fateful maiden voyage. Nearby, Southampton
City Art Gallery specialises in modern British Art. Solent Sky Museum features vintage aircraft like the iconic Spitfire. Tudor House & Garden displays artifacts covering over 800 years of history, including a penny-farthing.
Alternatively, perhaps you would like to step back into history while you walk the medieval walls and discover the maritime history or get a breath of fresh air in the award-winning parks.

You may wish to visit the Mayflower Pilgrims Memorial. In 1620 the group now known as pilgrims chartered the Mayflower, to sail to the New World to escape religious oppression in England. Now, over 30 million US citizens are descended from those who sailed there on the Mayflower! After lunch, we depart Southampton and head back to our pick-up points where we arrive in the evening after a great weekend of exploration.
